Better Beginnings Better Futures - Sudbury

The Aboriginal Hub of Better Beginnings Better Futures in collaboration with R. Murray Schafer, Community Arts & Heritage Education Project and many other arts partners, announces the first celebration and official Launch of the Spirit Garden Project.

What: The Spirit Garden celebrates the cycle of planting and harvesting - birth, maturing, death and rebirth. The work takes the form of the ritual planting of a real garden by the audience and consists of two parts: Spring planting and fall harvest. The garden is prepared and when the audience arrives for the Celebration, they will be divided into seed groups and will plant the garden amid singing and ritual celebration!

Where: 450 Morin Street, Better Beginnings Better Futures Community Centre

When: Saturday June 6^th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

Why: Arts and heritage education is a catalyst for creative thinking and lifelong learning. This community based hands-on project will ensure that children, youth, adults and the general public will have the opportunity to engage in this exciting initiative through art, music, ceremony and celebration.
